Polk Works’ Professional Service program offers top-quality employment services designed specifically for the professional job seeker, to meet the unique needs and challenges facing this particular target market and increase the overall employ-ability of Polk County professionals.

Services are available to individuals who have training and education beyond high school, usually holding degrees, certifications or licensures recognized in a particular industry, with a work history demonstrating the individual has held a position requiring minimal supervision and involving independent discretion and judgment. 

Specialized and individual services and programs that are designed to build and enhance a professional job seeker’s ability to obtain and retain employment.  These programs and services include: career coaching, employee development plans, resume critiquing, interviewing skills, job searches, job readiness training, professional networking, and other professional activities.

Career Coaching

Assist individuals to explore and better define professional competencies, address personal issues impacting your career, clearly identify your career objectives, discuss and resolve obstacles to employment and career success, guide you in developing both short-term and long-range career strategies, assist you in developing, executing and managing a successful job search campaign, and prepare you to competitively interview, negotiate compensation and evaluate offers.

Professional Resume Critique

After a job seeker completes their resume they are provided with additional tools and guidance including advice and examples on how you can improve their resume themselves. In addition, specific recommendations are made for the overall structure, presentation, organization, content, and grammar of the resume. This critique enables job seekers take their resume to the next level with a professional resume.

Mock Interview Techniques

Mock interviews are our individualized interview simulation geared to target industry specific interviews questions. Mock Interview sessions help job seekers develop enhanced interviewing strategies, reduce anxiety and nervousness before the actual interview, create a good first impression, communicate skills clearly and answer difficult questions.
